Violinist

Described by many as a musically talented and exciting player, Meah is known for her emotional and soulful performances. With her dazzling stage personality and infectious energy, she has performed in various venues, ranging from open-air spaces, clubs, the catwalk, concert halls, and even the Istana.

Meah started learning the violin at age 7 and attained Grade 8 (ABRSM) in violin when she was only 12. Currently, she holds a Diploma in Violin Performance, awarded by the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music.

Meah joined the Singapore Youth Orchestra when she was 13, and later went on to serve as Concert Mistress of the National Junior College String Orchestra. As section violinist, she has performed with the Singapore Lyric Opera Orchestra, Singapore Pop Orchestra, Chamber Players, New Festival Orchestra and The Philharmonic Orchestra.

As featured soloist, Meah has worked with famed fashionista Daniel Boey, and was the opening act for the 2010 Ashley Isham Fashion Show, putting up a performance that was deemed as “surreal”. She made her theatrical debut in 2011 as the solo violinist for the world premiere staging of “Mosaic”- a play by Geraldine Song and directed by Stephen Fernandez. Meah’s work was also featured in Singapore’s Operation Automaton, held from 19-21 March 2009 at the Night and Day Gallery, as part of a collaborative project with Jeremy Fernando.

Combining her love for music and literature, Meah enjoys performing for theatre. In 2017, she was the violinist for La Cage aux Folles as well as Lao Jiu the Musical. In the year of 2014, Meah was the only violinist in a 5-piece band for the award-winning off-broadway musical– Jason Robert Brown’s “The Last Five Years”, produced by Dream Academy as part of the Henderson Project in Feb 2014. In May 2013, Meah was the first violinist of the musical Glass Anatomy 搭错车, a production by Toy Factory. In 2012, Meah was the first violinist of the musical , La Cage aux Folles, a production by Wild Rice, which won the Readers’ Choice Award for Production of the Year in the 13th Life! Theatre Awards 2013. In October 2012, Meah was the violinist in a 15-piece orchestra for National Broadway Company, a musical commissioned by Esplanade-Theatres on the Bay as part of Esplanade’s 10th Anniversary celebrations. She was also violinist for “Duck and Dive: The Ugly Duckling and the Frog Prince”, a 2009 musical.

An active music enthusiast, Meah has performed solo at the Esplanade Recital Studio on numerous occasions and has taken part in various chamber music projects both locally and overseas. From 2006-2010, Meah served as founding First Violinist of Fritz Quartet, a string quartet which she founded and managed during her university years. Together with her quartet, she performed for various themed projects at the Esplanade Concourse and participated in the Singapore Arts Festival’s outreach programme “Arts on the Move” in 2009. In her dual role as First Violinist and Manager, she has led the quartet in performing for product launches, weddings, corporate events, collaborative projects and full-house intimate sit-down performances.

Equally versatile on the electric violin, Meah is a member of San Nikkis, Singapore’s first and only all-female electric string trio.

Meah is the founding First Violinist of Piezo Quartet . Launched in November 2011, Piezo Quartet is Singapore’s very first professional electric string quartet, and the first of its kind in regional Asia.

Meah is a sought-after sessionist, and has recorded for local movie & drama soundtracks as well as theatre productions. Her work has also taken her to Tokyo, where she recorded for a popular Tokyo Rock band (Unclose) for their EP “Syusoku” in 2017.

Returning to her love for chamber music, since 2017, Meah is also the violinist of Trio Simeatri, a professional piano trio based in Singapore.
